There is no single "Chinese culture", any more than all Americans are the same culturally. If anything, with 1.4 billion people from thirty-odd kingdoms jammed together, they're likely even more diverse. The extreme and outrageous stories that emerge really aren't that much more incredible than the ones our country generates.
